Distrisel digitalizes delivery tracking with PTV Axylog

For its transport subsidiary Sotrasel, Distrisel, the French specialist in salt distribution for water treatment and a subsidiary of the Salins Group, has chosen PTV Axylog, the real-time transport visibility solution developed by PTV Logistics. Thanks to this digital transformation, the company has significantly improved operational efficiency and secured its regional deliveries, which are carried out directly at the foot of customers’ water softeners.

“Salt is life. It’s everywhere—even in our bodies!” says Alexandre Mosson, Sales Director at Distrisel with a smile. Nearly 50 years ago, almost to the day, Distrisel was founded as a French specialist in salt distribution for water treatment. The company’s entrepreneurial success is built on a strong customer promise: delivering salt bags manufactured by its parent company, the Salins Group, directly to the foot of customers’ water softeners. Today, Distrisel serves more than half of France’s heating system operators and water treatment professionals.

With nearly 30,000 tonnes of salt distributed every year, more than 25,000 delivery points, and a fleet operated by its subsidiary Sotrasel (20 heavy goods vehicles, 4 light commercial vehicles, and a furniture lift), Distrisel has established itself as a key player in the French market. Every day, between 15 and 20 delivery routes are planned and executed from the network’s eight depots. Until 2024, the entire process relied on paper delivery packs handed over to drivers—an organization vulnerable to disruptions and poorly suited to deliveries often carried out without an on-site contact. “We managed everything manually. A simple printer breakdown could block an entire route. And without digital proof, it was difficult to document deliveries in environments where no one is present to receive the goods. Our drivers very often work alone on site,” recalls Alexandre Mosson.

A transformative project

Since July 2025, Distrisel and Sotrasel have adopted a new approach. Both sister companies now rely on the digital solution PTV Axylog to ensure real-time monitoring and traceability of deliveries. Depots can now track route progress live, while drivers receive their daily routes directly on their professional smartphones from the Aubervilliers headquarters, including loading quantities, route plans, and digital delivery notes for each customer. Once on site, the PTV Logistics mobile application provides digital proof of delivery through geolocation, photo capture, and electronic signature. It also enables drivers to immediately report any anomalies, such as closed sites, damaged bags, or other incidents observed during delivery. The solution further streamlines the management of Euro pallets—a significant cost item—by allowing drivers to record, in real time, pallets dropped off or collected at each customer location.

Downstream, PTV Axylog also accelerates the invoicing process, which can now be initiated as early as the following day, helping to secure Distrisel’s cash flow. Launched in May 2025, the project was fully rolled out operationally in just two months—an especially short timeframe for a transformation impacting all depots and drivers. “Beyond the financial gains, PTV Axylog brings real operational comfort: the end of paper-based processes, increased responsiveness, immediate data reliability, and smoother communication with both drivers and customers,” says Vincent Lardon, Deputy Managing Director of Distrisel and Sotrasel.

A winning model, ready for international rollout

Thanks to the operational deployment of PTV Axylog, Distrisel estimates it has eliminated 75,000 sheets of paper per year. “We wanted to modernize the way we work with a simple, robust tool tailored to our high-service-level delivery model. PTV Axylog fully met our expectations, with a positive impact both operationally and commercially,” adds the Deputy Managing Director. This satisfaction is shared not only by drivers—who adopted the tool immediately—but also by the Salins Group. The group is now considering extending Distrisel’s service-oriented delivery model to other European countries, relying on PTV Logistics’ software to support this expansion.
