The Logistics Solutions Sector: A Strategic Lever for Performance

Today, digital solutions dedicated to transport play a central role in transforming supply chains. Faced with growing shipment volumes, increasing time pressures, and urgent environmental challenges, companies are turning to technologies that improve route accuracy, reduce mileage, and ensure reliable planning.

Whether for shippers, distributors, or field technicians, the requirement is the same: agile, powerful tools to manage every movement efficiently while minimizing carbon impact.

Sigma in Brief

Founded in 1972, Sigma is now a recognized player in digital services in France. The company stands out not only for its technological expertise but also for its societal commitments. In 2023, Sigma became the first French IT services company (ESN) to adopt the “mission-driven company” status, affirming its ambition to develop responsible, useful, and sustainable digital solutions.

Its logistics solutions cover a wide scope:

  • Advantage Supply – a TMS dedicated to shippers
  • iCopitole – an ERP for energy distributors
  • iCopitole Field Service – a solution for managing field interventions

These software solutions enable hundreds of companies every day to manage routes, deliveries, and interventions efficiently.

Sigma’s Logistics Challenge

To meet growing customer demand, Sigma needed to enhance its logistics solutions with greater precision, flexibility, and optimization capabilities. Users expressed very specific needs: managing precise time slots, optimizing the number of loads per route, automatically assigning the right resources, and handling intervention volumes that can reach several thousand per month.

The company also aimed to strengthen its support for Green Logistics—a dimension now essential for transport and energy players.

Modernizing its logistics components was therefore a key challenge to maintain quality, accuracy, and competitiveness.

The Solution Delivered by PTV Logistics

To take this next step, Sigma chose to integrate the latest versions of PTV Logistics APIs into its solutions. This technological upgrade provides a more robust, high-performing, and significantly more flexible foundation.

Thanks to these new components, Sigma now benefits from more accurate geocoding, advanced route calculation, and route optimization that can incorporate numerous business constraints. Map display is also smoother and more intuitive, making users’ daily work easier.

These improvements allow Sigma to deliver a much higher level of customization and enhanced performance, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainable logistics.

A Smooth, Progressive Deployment

The renewal of the partnership with PTV Logistics was a natural continuation of a collaboration initiated in 2011. Technical integration was seamless, with no disruption for users, and simultaneously improved three key solutions: Advantage Supply, iCopitole, and iCopitole Field Service.

Next steps are already underway. Sigma is working on automated planning to enable some customers to handle several thousand interventions per month fully automatically. Advantage Supply will also be enhanced with advanced route optimization features for shippers managing their own fleets.

A Strong Partnership Focused on the Future

The relationship between Sigma and PTV Logistics is built on mutual trust and a shared vision: logistics that is more efficient and more sustainable. The quality of communication, the availability of PTV Logistics teams, and the reputation of the solution were decisive factors in Sigma’s decision to renew this strategic partnership.

Both companies share the same ambition: to support professionals in their logistics transformation and provide them with the most powerful tools on the market, while promoting responsible digital practices.

“Our collaboration with PTV Logistics began in 2011. Beyond the expertise and availability of PTV’s teams, as well as their strong reputation, the quality of our exchanges convinced us to continue working together. The new APIs allow us to achieve a much higher level of customization and expect productivity gains of around 8 to 15%.”
